About
Since 1079 Lyndhurst has been known as the ‘capital’ of the New Forest and has been the haunt of royalty, nobility and commoner alike for centuries. As the largest village in the area rich in history and heritage this beautiful village has become much loved by locals and visitors alike.
It was this same affection for the village that led a group of local tradesmen to hang Christmas lights across the high street over 40 years ago to spread some festive cheer. Powered for a time by a local upstairs flat and managed by volunteers these lights for many years have helped to ‘make it Christmas in Lyndhurst,’ the heart of the New Forest.
We are The Lyndhurst Village Decorations Committee, a collection of local volunteers passionate about our village. We help manage and coordinate the christmas decorations each year, as well as donations, collections, insurances, licencing and anything else required. We aren’t a charity, our whole operation is provided and funded by volunteers and locals so we need your help!
